Post- Construction Cleaning

Post- Construction Cleaning is the cleaning done right after renovation of a building or a newly constructed building.

Cleaning can sometimes be done by the Construction Company or contractor, however, they only clear out debris, sand and cement and do not necessarily clean out the space enough for move-in.

A live-in housekeeper would not be properly equipped for post-construction cleaning and vice versa. So also, a janitor that deep cleans home/office spaces cannot undertake the task of post-construction cleaning because the latter goes beyond everyday dirt particles and cleaning.

It involves removal and cleaning of debris, cements and unsafe materials from the newly constructed space.

Post-construction cleaning is therefore born out of necessity to ensure the safety of whoever is going to move into the new space.

Special chemicals are used to remove dusts and other stubborn materials from surfaces such as windows and its frames, cabinets, doors and wall and floor tiles. Attention is also paid to harmful construction materials such as nails, glass and wires.

It is understandable that given the nature of construction, the sites can be harsh or potentially dangerous if not properly cleaned by a professional agency.

Special areas are given special interest such as the bathrooms, kitchen and in fact all rooms with specific purposes.

Installations in the site such as cabinets, consoles, toilets and sinks are thoroughly cleaned.

It is obvious therefore that this phase is very time consuming because it ensures attention to details for a proper cleaning.

The cleaning experts have to properly clean the frames of doors and windows, mirrors, glass bathrooms and showerheads, gas cookers, etc. by cleaning all fixtures and appliances. 

Touch-up cleaning: Touch-up cleaning is the last phase of the post-construction cleaning process. Before this phase, the construction team would have finished their final walkthrough on the project.

There is hence, a final wipe down of surfaces, windows and doors which may have carried left-over smudges since all the dust would have settled by this time to have a spotless space.

Again, it is advisable that even this stage be done by cleaning experts and not just by anyone.

These three phases are labor intensive and require a lot of knowledge and expertise that is why it is highly recommended that the home owners invite a cleaning agency for this task.
